Bestsellers Sidebox
The Bestsellers sidebox lists products in order of most sold with the top selling product listed first.
On the home page, the Bestsellers sidebox lists the most sold products across all categories.
From a Category page, the Bestsellers sidebox lists the most sold products of that particular category only. So if there are no bought products in the category the Bestsellers side box is not displayed.
By default, the Bestsellers sidebox is not displayed on product pages.
The Bestsellers sidebox only includes current products. It does not include disabled or deleted products (even if the total sales of that product is still higher than other products).
Set the minimum and maximum number of products to include in the Bestsellers sidebox in Zen Cart Admin:
Admin > Configuration > Minimum Values > Best Sellers to set how many times the product is to be sold before it is considered to be a best seller
Admin > Configuration > Maximum Values > Best Sellers for Box to set the number of best sellers to display in the sidebox.
You may wish to customise the Bestsellers sidebox to exclude particular categories and/or products. For example, exclude Gift Certificates or free gifts from appearing as top sellers.

Ahh, thanks for this. I couldn’t work out why the bestsellers box wouldn’t show on certain category pages. I thought it must have been a setting in Admin but now that you’ve spelled it out it makes sense.

Zen Cart has more built-in logic than you might see on first look and something like the Bestsellers sidebox is a good example.

hi Kerrin…how come my bestsellers are not showing properly even though ive set the correct minimum values to like 10… i tried buying 1 item and it have already showing at the best seller

Hi Linda, is it the bestsellers sidebox on the home page or on a category page? Are you using a custom template and if so, does it also happen when you change back to the Classic template? Can you share your store’s address so I can take a look?

Hi kerrin…classic template is having e same issue..let me give you the summary to what i understand of the min value of best sellers.
I set 10 for min
my understanding
if the no. of item 1 has been purchased equal or more than 10pcs.. it will be listed in the best sellers, if item 2 only being purchased by customers lesser than 10. it wont show in the best sellers. so only item 1 will be showed here since it meet the requirement.
from the way it is working right now,
if 10 items(Item 1 – Item 10) are being purchased irregardless of the qty, than the best sellers will start to show. hence, the 10 items are being showed as best sellers.
so which is which it suppose to function correctly?
