The Breadcrumb Navigation (also known as Breadcrumb Trail Links) in Zen Cart shows visitors where they are in your store and also provides quick links to return to the category or sub-category level.
In this example, we can see that the DVD we are viewing is in the Drama section of the DVD Movies category. The Breadcrumb Navigation gives us one-click access to either Home, DVD Movies or Drama.
To turn enable or disable the Breadcrumb Navigation:
- Log in to your Zen Cart store Admin
- From the Configuration menu, select Layout Settings.
- Click on the (i) next to Define Breadcrumb Status and click the Edit button.
- Select one of the three options: Off, On or Off for Home Page Only.
- Click Update.

I just installed Zen cart with a free template and have selected to turn off the breadcrumbs menu but its still there on every page. I’m trying to turn it off completely. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Robert
I’ve just had a quick look at your site and it looks as though you have the breadcrumb navigation turned off.
Could it be that you are referring to the Category or SubCategory Image / Links? Try going into Zen Cart Admin > Configuration > Product Listing and turn both ‘Include Product Listing Sub Categories Image’ and ‘Include Product Listing Top Categories Image’ to false. I think this might be what you are looking for.
