Reset the Order ID number in Zen Cart


There’s one thing that all Zen Cart store owners agree on.  On launching a new online store, you do not want your first customer to see that they are, in fact, your first customer.  So, just before your opening day, reset the Order ID number to something more suitable.

To reset the current order ID:

  1. Log in to your Zen Cart store Admin
  2. From the Tools menu, select Store Manager.
    Zen Cart Admin > Tools > Store Manager
  3. As shown, you will need to enter the last Order ID used in the Old Order ID field.  You may need to create a test order first so that you have the correct value to enter here.

    Enter a number one less than the one you wish to be your next Order ID in the New Order ID field.

    In this example, I have used 5211.

  4. The next Order ID will be in one more than the number you entered in the New Order ID field.
