Turn off the ‘Your IP Address’ display in the footer of Zen Cart

The footer can display the IP address of your store’s visitors.  Many people, including genuine customers, find the display of their IP address gives them an uneasy feel.  It also does very little in discouraging non-genuine customers from misbehaving.  For most stores I recommend that the customer’s IP address is removed from the footer in Zen Cart.

In a default installation of Zen Cart, the IP Footer Display looks like this:

Display of visitor's IP address in footer of Zen Cart

To turn off the ‘Your IP Address’ display in the footer of Zen Cart:

  1. Log in to your Zen Cart store Admin
  2. From the Configuration menu, select Layout Settings.
Zen Cart Admin > Configuration > Layout Settings
  3. Select Footer – Show IP Address status and then click on the Edit button.
Footer - Show IP Address status - Zen Cart
  4. Select 0 (Off) and the click on the Update button.
Edit Footer - Show IP Address status (Zen Cart)

The customer’s IP address will still be logged as part of the order and payment processes.  This change affects the footer display only.

    Hi arisyia

Is it just this setting that does not save? If you are using version 1.38 and have incorrectly applied one of the security patches, the symptom is that you cannot make any changes in the Admin area successfully.

    Could this be the case?

It does sound like an incorrect or missing update to the html_output.php file as part of this security patch: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=130161. Have you applied this patch?
