In this type of blog post, we share an angle of our business that we might not normally make public. For example, you might take your readers and customers along to the next trade fair you attend or show them the new equipment you have just had installed and the benefits it will provide.
Inviting your visitors and customers ‘behind the scenes’ in a blog post can help to increase the emotional bond they have with your store. This type of post can also be a change of pace for your blog – by a change of tone, a fresh perspective or even by using a guest blogger.
There is a great example at Blogleaves, the blog of online store Figleaves, where Phoebe, an intern, provides a sneak peak at what’s going on behind the scenes. We learn a bit about life at Figleaves – they sit on yoga balls and are currently working on their Christmas catalog – before the clever tie-in of attending a photo shoot with great product shots and direct links to the product information pages.
