When a customer has logged in and with one one or more products in their Shopping Cart, the NavMain menu looks like this:

The Home link in the NavMain menu is set to the Zen Cart store front.  There are occasions when you may wish to alter this behaviour.  For example, if your online store is in a sub directory of your main website, you might be looking to set Home to link to your main website and an additional link Store to lead to Zen Cart online store.

This is achieved by modifying the tpl_header.php file.

1. Open the tpl_header.php file located in the /includes/templates/template_default/common/ directory.
2. Find this section of code:

   <div id="navMain">
   <ul class="back">
   <li><?php echo '<a href="' . HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . '">'; ?><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_CATALOG; ?></a></li>

3. To change the existing Home link to read Store, update the section of code as follows:

   <div id="navMain">
   <ul class="back">
   <li><?php echo '<a href="' . HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . '">'; ?>Store</a></li>

   Replace Store with whatever you wish your online store link to be.

4. To add an additional link to your main website Home, update the section of code as follows:

   <div id="navMain">
   <ul class="back">
   <li><a href="http://www.domain.com/">Home</a></li>
   <li><?php echo '<a href="' . HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . '">'; ?>Store</a></li>

   Replace http://www.domain.com with your main website address and replace Home with the link name you would like to use.

5. Save the modified tpl_header.php file to your override folder. This will be /includes/templates/CUSTOM/common/ where CUSTOM represents the name of your current template folder.

In this example, we can see that the DVD we are viewing is in the Drama section of the DVD Movies category.  The Breadcrumb Navigation gives us one-click access to either Home, DVD Movies or Drama.

There are three customisations that you may wish to implement for your Zen Cart store:

1. Turn off (or on) the Breadcrumb Navigation

   This is a global change and will affect all pages.  See How to turn off Zen Cart Breadcrumb Navigation.

2. Remove Breadcrumb Navigation from Zen Cart Home Page Only

   As Home is the only section of the Breadcrumb Navigation that is displayed on the Home page it can look a little out of place.  If you want to display the Breadcrumb Navigation on all pages except the home page see Removing Breadcrumb Navigation from Zen Cart Home Page Only.

3. Modify the Zen Cart Breadcrumb Navigation to remove ‘Home’

   Finally, you may wish to remove the Home level from the Breadcrumb Navigation.  In our example above, the Breadcrumb would then read DVD Movies :: Drama :: Courage Under Fire Linked.  This is a global change and will affect the Breadcrumb Navigation on all pages that it is displayed on.  See Modifying the Zen Cart Breadcrumb Navigation to remove Home.

2. From the Configuration menu, select Layout Settings.
3. Click on the (i) next to Define Breadcrumb Status and click the Edit button.
4. Select one of the three options:  Off, On or Off for Home Page Only.
5. Click Update.

Store owners may wish to remove the first level of the Zen Cart Breadcrumb Navigation, namely ‘Home’.  This is a global change and will affect all pages that the Breadcrumb links are displayed on.

1. Copy /includes/init_includes/init_add_crumbs.php to your custom template folder (includes/init_includes/custom/init_add_crumbs.php).
2. Edit init_add_crumbs.php by commenting out line 15 (add // at the beginning of the line), as shown here:

   //$breadcrumb->add(HEADER_TITLE_CATALOG, zen_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT));

3. Upload the new file to your site using your FTP program.

From Zen Cart version 1.37, a setting in Admin allows you to include the Breadcrumb Navigation on all pages except the home page.

1. Log in to your Zen Cart store Admin
2. From the Configuration menu, select Layout Settings.
3. Click on the (i) next to Define Breadcrumb Status and click the Edit button.
   
4. Select Off for Home Page Only.
5. Click Update.
