Positive Negative

This is my first (and last) experience with Zen. Will never go thru this again.
Anyway ... all I want to to do is change the URL in the main banner to go to the website index instead of the cart index, simple right, you would think so.
Been thru the cart, been thru the forums, Their "search" really sucks, been thru the FAQs.
Anyway there has to be an answer. All help is appreciated ... Chris

Hi Chris

Thanks for your question. Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit frustrated with Zen Cart at the moment!

If I understand you correctly, you are talking about either the breadcrumb navigation or the NavMain navigation. Here's a couple of links to step-by-step guides that should help:

Add links to the NavMain Menu in Zen Cart - http://www.kerrinhardy.com/2010/01/03/add-links-to-the-navmain-menu-in-zen-cart/

Breadcrumb Navigation in Zen Cart - http://www.kerrinhardy.com/2009/11/01/breadcrumb-navigation-in-zen-cart/

Hope this helps. If I've misunderstood, let me know and we'll go from there.

Cheers
Kerrin

Thanks, your instructions are different than the ones I found in the forums. The problem was the paths to the files to be modified were not the same in our new version.
This looks like it would have worked. Wish I could have had this info yesterday; we have gone in a different direction since.
But I have to tell you, check my site, http://www.lonebird.com, I’ve been doing this for over 20 years so I have some experience and this cart is allot harder than it has to be.

    Thanks Chris

    Hi Chris

Some templates are not designed using the standard features and override functions of Zen Cart and then we run into problems when trying to customise the template or turn on/off features that should be managed through the Zen Cart Admin.

This is also the ‘gap’ that inspired the Zen Cart Reference Book – The Ultimate Reference for Customising Zen Cart – a guide to point people in the right direction when they are starting out and don’t know what they don’t know.

    Cheers
    Kerrin
