The Page Parse Time information consists of three page statistics:

The page Parse Time is the time it took from when the first line of code in index.php started processing until the footer of your page was drawn. This includes the delays introduced by any SQL queries waiting on the database.

The parse time is shown in seconds.

The SQL queries counter or Number of Queries is the number of hits on the database in order to retrieve the required data to build and display the page.

The SQL Query Time is sum total of the time taken for each of the SQL queries to run – from the time of sending a query until the results are returned – that are required to build and display the page.

See Turn on or off the display of the page parse time if you wish to enable or disable the display of this information.

In a default installation of Zen Cart, the IP Footer Display looks like this:

To turn off the ‘Your IP Address’ display in the footer of Zen Cart:

Log in to your Zen Cart store Admin

From the Configuration menu, select Layout Settings.

Select Footer – Show IP Address status and then click on the Edit button.

Select 0 (Off) and the click on the Update button.

The customer’s IP address will still be logged as part of the order and payment processes. This change affects the footer display only.

The Site Copyright Display is made up of Copyright © <current year> <store name>. Powered by Zen Cart. The Site Copyright Display looks like this:

Since Zen Cart version 1.37, the Copyright statement is updated automatically to reflect the current year. However, you may wish to edit the copyright statement to an inclusive date range, for example Copyright © 2002-2010 <store name>. Powered by Zen Cart.

Open the english.php file located in the /includes/languages/ directory.

Find this section of code:

define('FOOTER_TEXT_BODY', 'Copyright &copy; ' . date('Y') . ' <a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT) . '" target="_blank">' . STORE_NAME . '</a>. Powered by <a href="http://www.zen-cart.com" target="_blank">Zen Cart</a>');

and modify the define statement as needed:

define('FOOTER_TEXT_BODY', 'Copyright &copy; 2002-' . date('Y') . ' <a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT) . '" target="_blank">' . STORE_NAME . '</a>. Powered by <a href="http://www.zen-cart.com" target="_blank">Zen Cart</a>');

** Be sure to keep the single quote marks in your new define statement.

Save the modified english.php file to your override folder. This will be /includes/languages/CUSTOM/ where CUSTOM represents the name of your current template folder.

When modifying the footer just add in your first year of business to the define statement. It is a good idea to leave the date(‘Y’) reference so that the year is updated automatically to reflect the current year. This leaves you with one less thing to think about at the start of each new year.

Note: It is considered common courtesy to leave “Powered by Zen Cart” intact if you can as it assists in advertising the Zen Cart project.

Today I’m going to step through the components that make up the Zen Cart Footer and their relevant settings in Zen Cart Admin.

Banner Position 4

While not actually called by the includes/templates/common/footer.php file, the Banner Position 4 is also known as Footer Position 1. See Zen Cart Banner Locations for an outline of the nine different banner locations. In the main footer screenshot above, Banner Position 4/Footer Position 1 is:

Zen Cart Admin > Configuration > Layout Settings > Banner Display Groups – Footer Position 1

The Banner Display Groups can be from 1 Banner Group or Multiple Banner Groups
For Multiple Banner Groups enter the Banner Group Name separated by a colon :
Example: Wide-Banners:SideBox-Banners
What Banner Group(s) do you want to use in the Footer Position 1?
Leave blank for none

EZ Pages Footer Menu

The EZ Pages can be linked from the EZ Pages Header Menu, EZ Pages Sidebox Menu, EZ Pages Footer Menu and the EZ Pages Table of Contents. In the main footer screenshot above, the EZ Pages Footer Menu looks like this:

Zen Cart Admin > Tools > EZ Pages

Select the EZ Pages that you would like to appear in the EZ Pages Footer Menu and set the preferred sort order.

IP Address Display

The footer can display the IP address of your store’s visitors. In the main footer screenshot above, the IP Footer Display looks like this:

Zen Cart Admin > Configuration > Layout Settings > Footer – Show IP Address status

Show Customer IP Address in the Footer
0= off
1= on
Should the Customer IP Address show in the footer?

Banner Position 5

Banner Position 5 is also known as Footer Position 2. See Zen Cart Banner Locations for an outline of the nine different banner locations. In the main footer screenshot above, Banner Position 5/Footer Position 2 is:

Site Copyright Display

The Site Copyright Display is made up of Copyright © <current year> <store name>. Powered by Zen Cart. In the main footer screenshot above, the Site Copyright Display looks like this:

The <current year> and the <store name> and link are updated automatically in Zen Cart. It is considered common courtesy to leave “Powered by Zen Cart" intact as it assists in advertising the Zen Cart project that is allowing you to create your new store and hopefully make money from it.

If you want your shop listed in the zen-cart.com Zen Showcase, you must leave "Powered by Zen Cart" in the footer for Identification.

Parse Time Display

The Parse Time Display is made up of Parse Time – Number of Queries – Query Time. The Parse Time Display can be useful when troubleshooting comments that your store pages are slow to load, however it is generally set not to display for general store operation. In the main footer screenshot above, the Parse Time Display looks like this:

Select On or Off
