This week the Zen Cart store in the spotlight is the Doodlebuckets Family Gift Store. Doodlebuckets pride themselves on supplying high quality gifts, excellence in customer service, and a generous return policy.

One of the things I really like about this store is the Doodlebuckets Member Benefits. They offer free date reminders, 5% off purchases, reward points for purchases and wishlists that can be shared. This is a great way to entice visitors to sign up even if they are not quite ready to make a purchase. The benefits are highlighted in the sidebar.

The other thing that warrants a special note is the introductory and follow up paragraphs on each category page. A fantastic touch for both store visitors and search engine optimisation.

I love the non-standard shape header that sets this store apart from the rest!

This week the Zen Cart store in the spotlight is E Privacy Screen. I really like the colour scheme of this store as well as the general layout. Looking nothing like a default Zen Cart store, this store showcases their products with good size product images and a custom layout on the product information page.

This is a an example of how great a Zen Cart store can look by employing a consistent look and feel (for example the category images/descriptions on the home page give the store a very professional first impression) together with some small design elements to add flair without going overboard.

This Zen Cart store is a great example of making it fun to shop and easy to buy with specialised categories such as ‘Baby Gifts’, ‘Gifts for Men’ and ‘Wedding Gifts’ as well as general categories such as ‘Barware’, ‘Trophies’ and ‘Desk Accessories’. Silver and Pewter Gifts also enhance the shopping experience with helpful information for buyers and extra services such as the personalised engraving and gift wrapping.

Another area that Silver and Pewter Gifts do well is the quality product descriptions and information pages along with the links to their blog and presence on social media.

This week the Zen Cart store in the spotlight is the bright and fun online store of Pulp Factory Calendars. This online store reflects their products – planners and calendars – that in turn reflects their style – modern, chic and funny!

This store has a great feel to it and is easy to navigate. Rather than stick with the Zen Cart defaults, Pulp Factory Calendars have carefully chosen the language used throughout the store. For example, ‘Customers who bought this product also purchased…’ is ‘Getting that? Gotta get this…’. This store also engages very well with visitors enjoying a fun or serious list on each product page.

This store’s colourful and high quality photography and clean, simple lines showcase their products beautifully. The simple gradient background is a very striking addition.
